One of the most fun Super Bowl prop bets is betting on the color of the Gatorade to be dumped on the winning coach. Andy Reid has been showered with purple and orange varieties of the sports drink in previous years, and this year’s opening Gatorade odds see purple coming in as the most favored color to be used for Super Bowl 58.

The opening Gatorade-dump odds make purple a slight favorite at +225 odds ahead of blue at +275 odds. Odds as of Jan.uary 31, 2024, at the BetMGM app. Use this BetMGM promo code SBD158 for new users to get your Bet $5, Get $158 in Bonus Bets Offer for the NFL Playoffs.
If you’re wondering how much a bet on the Gatorade odds will pay out, let’s break it down. The most favored purple color has +225 odds. That’s just over 2-1 odds. So if you bet say $10 on purple, and purple is the winning color, you would win back your $10, plus $22.50 of profit, for a total of $32.50.
If you were willing to put out a little more money, like say $100, the bet would return $325, of which $100 would be your original bet and $225 would be profit.
Looking at one more example, a bet on clear/water is priced at +1000 or 10-1 odds. A $10 bet would get you a $110 return ($100 profit) or a $100 bet would return $1,100 ($1,000 profit). Or course other denominations of bets would also be available, but vary by sports betting sites.

Gatorade Color History
Last year the Chiefs won the Super Bowl and dumped purple Gatorade on Andy Reid. In Super Bowl 54 when they won it was orange. So even the Chiefs themselves have not been consistent.
With purple cashing in Super Bowl Gatorade props for bettors last year, it became the first time since Super Bowl 46 where purple was used. Purple has actually only been the winning color/flavor of Gatorade three times in the past 20 years.
Blue has been the color of Gatorade at the Super Bowl to be dumped on the winning coach at the highest rate in recent years having cashed in three of the past five Super Bowls and four of the past nine.
In all-time Gatorade trends, blue has cashed the fourth-most times with four. Clear has been the outcome the most times at eight and orange the second-most with six.

Conference Championship Gatorade Colors
From the best my eyes could see there was no Gatorade-dump on either of Andy Reid or Kyle Shanahan after winning the AFC and NFC title games.
We’ve already talked about the previous colors used when the Chiefs won in recent years. We have to go much further back to find 49ers’ trends, but when they last won the big game in Super Bowl 29, head coach George Seifert was dumped with clear Gatorade. Surely if San Fran wins this time, they’ll be a bit more creative this time around?

Gatorade Color Longshots
Speaking of the clear color of Gatorade, it hasn’t been the winning bet since way back in Super Bowl 42 when the Giants dumped Tom Coughlin.
No Gatorade Bath isn’t a popular pick and has odds of +3000, however, that would’ve been the winning bet twice in the past 11 years. That’s not a huge hit-rate, but has hit more times than purple (1), yellow/green/lime (1), red/pink (0) and clear/water (0) during that time.
After blue (4), orange was the next-most popular (3) during that time.
Super Bowl Gatorade Odds Prediction
Look, short of having an inside man on the sidelines at the big game, this is really a guessing game.
The best value would be to bet the “No Gatorade Bath” at +3000 with the thought that the teams and coaches get so excited in winning that they rush the field and forget or miss out on the bath.
Alternatively, let’s pick out a color that has never hit and go Red/Pink.
The Chiefs have already used purple and orange and there has only been one instance where the same color was used in back-to-back years in the past 12 years. Additionally, the Chiefs and 49ers both have red in their jerseys and the Chiefs have chosen to wear red jerseys for the game. Take all that for what you will, but let’s bet the Red/Pink for our Gatorade color predictions.
Gatorade Color Pick: Red/Pink (+500)
