Virginia Tech Betting Trends
The Hokies finished the regular season with a 6-6 record and secured their bowl eligibility with a 55-17 win over Virginia. Brent Pry’s team exploded for 500 yards of offense in the regular-season finale, while holding the Cavaliers to under 300 yards of offense, including just 43 on the ground.
The Hokies’ offense is led by quarterback Kyron Drones, who threw for 1,994 passing yards and 15 touchdowns along with three picks on the year. Running back Bhayshul Tuten rushed for 727 yards and eight touchdowns. Wide receiver Da’Quan Felton had a team-best 667 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.
The Hokies have put together a 7-4-0 ATS record so far this year. Virginia Tech is a perfect 1-0 against the spread when favored by 7.5 points or more this season. Hokies games have hit the over seven out of 11 times this season.
Tulane Betting Trends
Tulane, on the other hand, finished the regular season with an impressive 11-2 record, but lost to SMU in the AAC title game. The Green Wave’s stingy defense kept the Mustangs’ high-powered offense under 400 yards, but they failed to get the offense going, mustering only 31 rushing yards.

Tulane’s offense is led by running back Makhi Hughes, who led the AAC in rushing with 1,290 yards to go with seven touchdowns. Quarterback Michael Pratt has thrown for 2,825 yards and 22 touchdowns this season. Pratt, however, will be opting out of the Miltiary Bowl, which you can read about more below.
Tulane has put together a 5-7-0 ATS record so far this year. Tulane is winless ATS (0-1) when playing as at least 10.5-point underdogs this season. Two Tulane games (of 12) have hit the over this year, as their AAC-leading scoring defense has led to a strong “under” trend in their games.

Virginia Tech vs Tulane Prediction
There are a lot of things you need to consider before making a bet on the Military Bowl, including the key opt outs for both teams. We haven’t even touched on the fact that Tulane’s head coach Willie Fritz, is leaving to take the head coaching job at Houston following this bowl game.
We’re concentrating on the game total in the Military Bowl, as we expect scoring to be at a premium. Tulane will have its leading rusher in Makhi Hughes, while VA Tech’s star running back Bhayshul Tuten (727 yds) will be suiting up. Both programs average over 4 yards per carry on the ground.
There has been major sharp money on this total, with the number opening at 48.5 and dropping a full four points. We still feel there’s value left, as the forecast is calling for 9.2 mph winds and 97% chance of rain at Memorial Stadium. This has the makings of a ground-heavy, defensive slugfest.
